Cody Edling

Assistant Winemaker

Cody Edling was born and raised in North Wales, PA Montgomery County, and graduated from Penn State in 2010 with a BS in Horticulture production.

After a class trip in 2009 to Happy Valley Vineyard, Cody became a volunteer in the vineyard and assisted with the 2010 harvest, processing and winemaking.  Cody began working fulltime for Happy Valley Vineyard with the 2011 harvest.

Although Cody came to Happy Valley Vineyard & Winery with no previous wine-making experience, he possessed an extensive science background and a passion/hobby of home brewing beer.  This background facilitated Cody’s understanding of the concept of fermentation as well as the fundamental steps from start to finish of a fermented beverage. Now, with over three years of winemaking under his belt, Cody can claim that he has experience, knowledge and confidence.

Cody’s passion for the business shows, and he loves experimenting with new ideas and small batches to create wines that our customers will enjoy. Examples of two of Cody’s experiments would be our Autumn Wood and Ruby Throat Rosé.

And in Cody’s own words:  “I am very excited for future vintages of Happy Valley wines, as we create our own unique style of locally grown and meticulously cared for wines.”
